YouTube has a new look. And it’s called Cosmic Panda.

YouTube is field testing a fresh look to their entire site. With a much cleaner UI, letterboxed videos, new playlist views and and much more elegant experience, I’ve got to say that I really like it.

If you want to try it, just go to http://youtube.com/cosmicpanda.

If you decide that you don’t like it or don’t want to switch just yet, you can always go back.

YouTube Identity Crisis

I feel like YouTube is in such an awkward identity crisis over what to make their website look like. We all know it’s all about the videos, but I feel like every few months YouTube makes some strange subtle change and adds just a touch more blandness to it’s site.

The most recent made it even whiter, with less stuff and an awkwardly placed search bar. I’m not sure I dig it, but then again I don’t find myself on YouTube all that much to care anyway.

Commonality

I’m pretty OCD when it comes to certain things, especially websites. Last week, I redesigned my blog theme and I’m really happy with the way it came out. After that, I decided it would be cool to re-do my Twitter theme to look the same. And once I did that, I figured - why not, let me do the same for YouTube too.

I tried to duplicate as much as possible, but Twitter doesn’t really give you a lot of options, neither does the new YouTube channel pages.
