I used to get so excited over the idea of updates to my favorite iPhone applications, but now it just pisses me off. Not because I don’t want the cool new features, bug fixes and functionality changes - but because of the way Apple (specifically iTunes) handles App Updates.

Problems? Why yes there are:
Every once in a while, I’ll just scroll through my iTunes library blindly and start playing from a random song somewhere way down my purchased music playlist. It’s awesome the music I forgot I had and right now it’s putting me in an excellent mood.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions from friends who can’t seem to figure out how to get Genius mixes working. Glad to see someone over at TUAW covered it before I could get a post out there about it.
If you’re having trouble updating your Genius information in iTunes 9, try this quick fix I worked out:
After that, it should work fine. This is just a temporary fix until the servers calm down a little bit from all the people trying to use them.
Absolutely love the new iTunes UI and improvements. As subtle as they are, they are really a big step forward. The new iTunes Store is sexy too.
It’s probably for the best, iTunes. That kind of playlist could be kind of intense. I’ll let you think it over a little more and tell me when you’re ready.
Easily the most amazing collection of songs I’ve ever experienced. This might be my new favorite playlist.
I was just reading some news about the new “social” features that are expected to be included in the release of iTunes 9. One of the new reports coming out is that the fact that social networking applications and features are making their way into iTunes is no one-shot-deal on Apple’s part.
According to a little (almost missed) snippet in a recent Boy Genius Report article, it looks like Apple may be developing a social networking application to consolidate all the websites most people frequent.
“The social networking integration that we reported iTunes 9 would have seems to be part of a bigger social networking push by Apple. We’ve been informed that Apple has plans to tie iTunes 9 into a “Social” application that they plan to release in the future. It was said that the application (separate from iTunes) will be similar to Yahoo’s OneConnect offering and consolidate all your social networking services. (iPhone application? Desktop app? Wasn’t clarified to us).”
Looks like there’s some news going around about some possible features of iTunes 9. One cool one is App Organization: or the ability to visually arrange and organize the apps you have on your iPhone/iPod touch.
Apple usually does iPod/iTunes related announcements sometime in September, so we’ll see how that goes.
iTunes 8.2.1 was released today and reports are coming out that people that were successfully using iTunes to sync their Palm Pre are no longer able to do so.
Aw schweet. Just got my $30 iTunes gift card for the issues with activation of my new iPhone 3GS. Thanks Apple.
