Better Than A Stereo Dream

Kap Slap - DML

“Better Than A Stereo Dream” by Kap Slap

Another Best of 2010 mashup I came across. This one is just as good as the last one if not better. Enjoy!

Brenton Duvall - Mean Planes & Taylor Gangs

“Mean Planes & Taylor Gangs” by Brenton Duvall

This is awesome. No but really. My friend Mike sent me a website that featured the top mashups of 2010 and this was number 1. It’s a mix of  Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Swift. Enjoy!

Leading like a great conductor

This is a video that I had to watch for one of my business classes. At first, I was watching it because it was assigned but after about five minutes, it was no longer a chore. This is an amazing video that talks about so much through music. Watch it, you won’t regret it.

Easily the most amazing collection of songs I’ve ever experienced. This might be my new favorite playlist.

Torrents

The coolest thing ever* is when you find a torrent you’ve been looking for and when you go to download it, it goes super fast and finished within a few minutes.

*I reserve the right to change what I think the coolest thing ever is the next time something worth blogging about happens to me.

What song is that?

I hate when you know what a song sounds like and can recognize it but don’t know the name or enough information about it to actually find it online. So sad.

Diddy’s Biggest Downfall: Himself

So, I finally got the chance to sit down and watch the last few episodes of “Making the Band 4” on MTV. I had heard a lot of stuff about the demise of Danity Kane and the removal of Aubrey and D.Woods from the group but I didn’t really understand why.

Basically, Diddy took the problems the group was dealing with, oversimplified and demeaned it and then expected them to take kindly to him cutting two of the five members.

When he asked Aubrey to give him some “true talk” and explain what the problem was - he freaked. She explained that a big issue was trust and the lackthereof in the group. Specifically, she pointed out issues like “second guessing and miscommunication” in the sense that there was talk about certain members of the group getting asked to do demo tapes with Diddy, etc. Her only request, as a way to suggest a way to make the group come closer to a resolution was to increase the communication.

Diddy, who didn’t even let her finish, exclaimed that “Diddy doesn’t need to call Aubrey everytime he wants to do something with his album”. That was not even what she meant. When it concerns the group, of even just a member of it, it should be communicated to them. His response continued and he outted her and her “clique” member, D.Woods.

I feel like Diddy’s biggest downfall will be himself. I feel that he thinks he has “made it” and that he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He doesn’t realize that fans make up his empire and by treating them like crap, destroying something with an established following or just acting like “this isn’t Diddy’s fault”, he is only hurting himself. His pompous attitude, his sense of “well, I’ve made it” and his unnecessary projection of opinions on people he talks to is all the more reason that his failure will be attributed to himself. His schrewd management style is good…to a point… but there is a line he is crossing with every extra dollar he makes.

TSO Concert

Just got back from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert at the Nassau Coliseum. It was insane. Like absolutely nuts, hands down best concert I’ve ever been to. It was just great. The special surprise guest was Steven Tyler which was pretty cool but the star of the show was the effects. It was just insane - still speechless. Pictures and more tomorrow when I regain normal thought process and it’s not 4AM. Best night with my best friend.

Limewire, Torrents & The Federal Government

So I took for granted how easy it was for me to pirate music, applications and more when I was home. I was like an “app druglord” for Mac. I can literally get anything you want and it’ll work. With music, someone can say “I really wish I had this song” and before they even know what is happening, it’s being sent to them.

Here, SU (and any college, really) has a policy where you can’t steal music. The reason it’s a bigger deal here because for example, I have iO (Optimum Online) at home and therefore, there’s millions of people on the network - there’s no real way to track you down. Here, there’s a lot less people and they keep a closer eye on it. So, Limewire is totally out of the question. If they even suspect you, they’ll: sue you, kick you out of college, fine you.

I’ve seen it happen.

I just want the new Kanye Song - that’s all I want out of life right now.

Oh, Pandora!

Okay, so last week I posted about Pandora and the new iPhone application. I’m a little aggravated by Pandora at the moment. Generally, being the fabulous DJ that I am, I like to be in control of the music that I’m listening to, and I can usually find something I want to hear. Pandora is cool but I only use it on my iPhone because I’m not a fan of the actual Pandora website. Anyway, I’ve discovered a lot of songs I haven’t heard in a while or haven’t heard at all, but Pandora gets me in a musical groove and then takes it away!

I was listening to “Mario Vasquez Radio” and most of the songs were up-beat R&B style music and then all of sudden this random and really rediculously slow Danity Kane ballad came on and it just killed my mood.

The other problem is you’re only allowed to skip 6 songs every hour. I hate listening to entire songs sometimes so that KILLS me. Oh well, it was free.
