So I had heard about this Pandora application and project a while ago, and I didn’t really immediately like it. The concept of someone telling me what songs I’ll like and I kind of ignored it for a while. I’m not one to listen to an entire song anyway.
Last week, the Pandora app was released for the iPhone so I downloaded it and created an account. It’s actually pretty cool and it’s bringing back a lot of songs I’ve forgotten about.
For those of you that don’t know, Pandora is an application that is part of the “Music Genome Project”. Basically you type in an artist, song, composer you like and it creates a “station” of songs by that artist and songs that are similar or songs that Pandora will think you’ll like. You can skip songs, only 6 every hour, and as you listen to songs you can rate them “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” and Pandora will apparently get to know you better.
It’s not the only thing I’ll use to listen to music but it’s cool every once in a while. Check it out at http://pandora.com. If you have an iPhone or iPod touch, download the Pandora application from the App Store and go to http://pandora.com/iphone to link it to your account.
