What iOS is Missing for Me
marc:
I’m loving my iPad 2, as I knew I would. It remains an amazing device for consuming email, web pages, RSS feeds, and other content. But, I still can’t use it to do much work of any significance. And, that’s kinda frustrating.
I know that the iPad 2 a post-PC device, that it’s carving out its own use cases, that it’s not about office apps, yadda yadda yadda. But, the iPad 2 is so powerful...
Email?
Mom: You have 730 things in your Dropbox?
Me: No...that's my RSS app.
Mom: You have 730 things in your RSS app? Do you really email that many people?
Me: No. No. No. My RSS app is news articles and stuff. You know this.
Mom: Oh. Okay. I get my email on my phone now.
Me: Congratulations.
Mom: It was a big step for me.
Please, Let Me Pay
maniacalrage:
About 1% of the feedback to my ridiculous Tumblr Error Page post has been that I’m a stupid jackass for complaining about a free service (the other 99% is likes and agreeing reblogs). But here’s the thing, folks: I’ve been complaining for years that Tumblr is free. I don’t want it to be free. I want to pay for it. Tumblr is one of the few services on earth that refuses to take my...
I (Still) Hate Dentists
Just my luck. I cracked one of my molars last night on a pretzel log…yes, a pretzel log. Anyway, I went to the dentist today hoping for a quick fix that would get rid of the pain (and most likely the tooth too). Apparently, my wisdom tooth is impacted and pushing up against the tooth that got cracked. So not only can they not fix the tooth that’s broken, they can’t take it out or...
Let’s face it. You didn’t come over here to have pastries and...

Thoughts and Reflections on Apple’s Product... →
With this week’s release of the iPad 2 (in the USA, at least), I know that many of you will now be sitting at home feeling ever so slightly less satisfied with the original iPad sat on your desk. It’s a strange phenomenon. Your iPad is no less amazing today than it was last week, but it feels that way…
Very few Apple fans can afford to buy each and every new product release, and the feeling of...

New iTunes visualizer control spotted in Remote... →
Apple has updated Remote earlier today, its free iOS app for controlling desktop iTunes from your iDevice. Release notes accompanying the universal binary download cite a pair of under-the-hood tweaks and the addition of a “skip back” button when playing video. However, Apple’s technical writers have forgotten to include an overlooked new feature, the ability to control the iTunes visualizer.

Got Beef with Apple? File A Bug Report
nikf:
It’s becoming a familiar trend: people find something either broken or not to their liking in an Apple product. Because it’s far more fun to post things as a conspiracy (“Advertising seems to love it when we cover Apple”) than, y’know, making a valid and courteous report to Apple that what’s broken should be fixed or improved, here’s a guide. You’ll need a moment of your time, and if...

AT&T 3G MicroCell
A few weeks ago, I saw an article on 9to5Mac about how some AT&T users were receiving emails saying they would be receiving AT&T’s new “3G MicroCell” for free. My first thought - where’s my email? I didn’t even know what it was, but it was free and being given away so I knew I wanted one.
I called AT&T and they gave me the usual speech about how this is...

Wired In
Me: You know how on the Social Network, they were "wired in"?
Lauren: Yeah.
Me: Well...I'm "wired in".
I always feel so accomplished when you RT me.

Design...Then Code →
If you’re new to Objective-C or iOS development, this is a great site for you. The tutorials contain source code, text, images, walk-thrus and make development a little easier to understand. Even just reading through the introduction, I learned a lot. I’m currently learning Java and I see both the similarities and drastic differences between the languages. Looking forward to reading...

48 Hours with iPad 2
So, I’ve officially had iPad 2 for about 48 hours and I absolutely love it. Some thoughts:
It’s really fast. I was getting annoyed by all the headlines that it “screams”. But it actually does. Whether you’re multi-tasking or just flipping through pictures, it’s wicked fast and takes new tasks like a champ. Ton of improvement here.
It’s really light. The...
Hello Again Tumblr!
I haven’t really posted much original content in a while. I just haven’t had the time. I always would get annoyed when blogs I followed said stuff like that but after working 24 hours straight, then going to a full day of classes, coming home and doing homework, the last thing I want to do at 3AM is compose a thoughtful blog article about something Apple-related or geeky.
Anyway,...
